  • December 2016 – August 2018: Member of the National Committee for the Habilitation process to Professor in Structural Engineering.
  • January 2018: Co-founder of the Institute for Safety and Security Sciences, The University of Trento (ISSTN). Via Vigilio Inama, 5, 38122 Trento TN, Italy.
  • May 2014: Co-founder of the start-up I-kubed http://www.i-kubed.com/en/ .  It was initially devoted to structural health monitoring of civil engineering buildings. In the medium term, it will be used for the health monitoring of civil/mechanical infrastructure systems.
  • March 2013-October 2015: Deputy head at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical and Engineering of the University of Trento.
  • September 2007: defence of a Ph.D. thesis titled “Analysis of control techniques and development of numerical methods for heterogeneous simulations with dynamic substructuring” at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Bristol. Best research Thesis Prize.
  • February-July 2005: period of study and research at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Bristol, in collaboration with David Stoten.
  • July 2004: period of study and research at the École Polytechnique de Montréal, in collaboration with Prof. Robert Tremblay.
  • June 2003: period of study and research at the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chausses LAMI Marne-La-Vallèe, in collaboration with Prof. Nelly Point.
  • February 2003-February 2005: Co-ordinator of the Ph. D. Programme in Modelling, Conservation and Control of Materials and Structures at the Department of Mechanical and Structural Engineering of the University of Trento.
  • November 2001-October 2006: Deputy head at the Department of Mechanical and Structural Engineering of the University of Trento.
  • July 2001: Professor of Structural Dynamics and Control at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Trento.
  • August 1999: A period of study and research at the Laboratoire Central des Ponts et Chausses LCPC-CNRS Marne-La-Vallèe, in collaboration with Dr. Pierre Argoul.
  • February 1999: Co-designer of The Materials and Structural Testing Laboratory (LPMS), which is the largest university facility with biaxial reaction wall in Europe http://web.unitn.it/dicam/7275/materials-and-structural-testing . It has been actively used for testing of industrial components and devices.
  • September 1998: Associate professor of Structural Analysis and Design at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Trento.
  • September 1995: study and research period at the Department MSM, Université de Liège in collaboration with prof. Rene Maquoi and dr. Jean-Pierre Jaspart; and at the Laboratoire de Techniques Aeronautiques et Spatiales, Université de Liège in collaboration with prof. Michel Geradin.
  • September 1992 – November 1992: study and research period at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering, University of Colorado at Boulder in collaboration with prof. Pui-Shum B. Shing; the collaboration continues also in the summers 1993 and 1994.
  • June 1992: study and research period at the Department MS M, Université de Liège in collaboration with prof. Rene Maquoi and dr. Jean-Pierre Jaspart.
  • September 1990 – October 1991: study and research period at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering, University of Colorado at Boulder (under the guide of profs K. H. Gerstle and Pui-Shum B. Shing).
  • July 1990: National Research Council (CNR) fellowship to spend a period of study in a foreign university.

  • May 1984: Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Padua University with the voting of 110/110 and praise.
